Want smooth, sleek, hair-free legs for summer, which is just around the corner? Allure Plastic Surgery offers laser hair removal, which is a surgery-free and non-invasive treatment that removes hair from the face and body. Find out more about this treatment in our latest blog post, which answers frequently asked questions from patients.
On What Areas Can the Treatment Be Used?
Our laser hair removal can be used to remove unwanted hair from the legs, underarms, bikini area, back and face (most often the upper lip and cheeks).
How Many Treatments Will I Need, and Will the Results Be Permanent?
The number of treatments you will need depends on the amount and type of hair you have, though typically it takes between six and eight treatments (spaced about six weeks apart) to permanently remove hair from the area. However, it will take longer and longer in between each session for hair to re-grow in the area before the last treatment, when there will be no hair re-growth in the area.
Does It Work On Coarse, Dark Hair?
Yes; in fact, the treatment actually works more quickly and efficiently on patients who have coarse, dark hair and lighter skin tones. Patients with darker skin tones and/or lighter hair colors (blonde, red and light brown) are also good candidates for laser hair removal, though they may require additional treatment sessions to achieve their desired results.
Is the Treatment Painful?
There is minimal discomfort involved in a laser hair removal treatment; most patients describe it as a slightly cold and/or stinging sensation. The treatment area will likely be slightly pink and sensitive during treatment, but most patients find the treatment much more tolerable than waxing, and with the added benefit of permanent hair removal.
Is There Any Downtime after a Session?
No; you will be able to return to work and normal daily activities right after a treatment session. There may be some slight redness and/or mild swelling of the treatment area, though this should resolve itself within a few hours of treatment.
