After childbirth and breastfeeding, many women are unhappy with their sagging breasts, loose stomach skin or extra fat pockets on their outer thighs. A mommy makeover is designed to fix these and other issues affecting a woman’s body as a result of pregnancy. The mommy makeover procedure is a combination of two or more plastic surgery procedures that are performed either at or close to the same time; these procedure are personally tailored for each mom to help her get her pre-baby body back.
Am I a Good Candidate for a Mommy Makeover?
You may be considered a good candidate to have a mommy makeover if you identify with the following:
- You are in good health overall
- You have sagging and/or deflated breasts from pregnancy/breastfeeding
- You have excess, loose skin on your stomach
- You have pockets of fat on your thighs, buttocks and/or hips
- You are at a healthy weight for your build
- You are not planning on having more children
Mommy Makeover Procedures
A mommy makeover is a combination of any two or more of the following procedures that we offer at Allure Plastic Surgery:
Breast Augmentation. This procedure corrects breasts that have lost their shape and/or volume due to pregnancy and breastfeeding. Allure Plastic Surgery offers both saline and silicone breast implants.
Breast Lift. For women who have sagging breasts and stretched out skin as a result of breastfeeding, a breast lift (or mastopexy) will restore perkiness by removing the excess skin and lifting the remaining breast tissue to a higher position.
Breast Augmentation with Lift. To correct both sagging and deflated breasts, a breast augmentation with lift combines breast implants with a breast lift procedure so that the breasts are both fuller and perkier.
Tummy Tuck. Loose, hanging skin often remains on a woman’s abdomenas a result of the skin being stretched during pregnancy. A tummy tuck, or abdominoplasty, will remove this skin that is impossible to get rid of with diet and exercise alone. The procedure will also tighten the abdominal muscles, leaving a flatter, smoother and more toned stomach.
Liposuction. For women who have lost most or all of their baby weight, but are still having trouble getting rid of fat bulges in their thighs, hips, or other parts of their body, a liposuction treatment can help smooth out your curves. At Allure Plastic Surgery, we offer VASER liposuction, a technique that results in less bleeding, less bruising and a shorter recovery time.
Recovery from a Mommy Makeover
Since the mommy makeover procedure is customized to fit the needs of each patient, the recovery time will vary based on the type and amount of procedures being performed. The best part about the mommy makeover is that you get the benefits of two or more procedures while only having one recovery period!
While recovering, you can expect to wear a support garment, either a compression garment after liposuction or the Miami tummy tuck and/or a support bra after breast surgery. The doctor will prescribe pain medication to relieve any discomfort you may feel during this time. You should avoid any heavy lifting and strenuous exercise for about six weeks. A general timeframe for getting back to work (a desk job) is around two to four weeks, though your doctor can give you a better estimate based on the procedures you’ve had performed and your rate of healing.
